Bexley Renovation Inside and Out

By removing the wall and connecting  an existing Kitchen and Dining Room with a new peninsula, and by transforming the rear yard tiered Patio and landscaping, this renovation enhances the gathering/entertainment places at this Bexley home. A new rear porch shelters the new French doors that increased daylight in the renovated Family Room and improved views to the Patio. A bluestone path leads to a screened porch with views to a new fountain that provides a soothing sound signature and visual focal point in the landscaping. RKA coordinated the exterior design with landscape architect Schieber & Associates.

Ohio Theatre Orchestra Shell Redecoration

RKA is pleased to be working with CAPA and the Columbus Symphony Orchestra on refreshing the Orchestra Shell at the Ohio Theatre.  Martin Painting & Coating and Franklin Imaging are implementing RKA’s updated graphic design which was inspired by ornamental plaster elements in the Ohio Theatre. While the front of these massive movable tower units are redecorated, various support mechanisms on the back of these units have been reinforced.

Reimagining a Bexley Front Porch

Our Client in Bexley loves her charming front gable Cape Cod home, and the lovely tree-lined neighborhood streets. The Client engaged RKA to reimagine the design of the existing front porch. The existing porch is in disrepair, has poor proportions, misalignments, no railings, and unrefined details. RKA created a new design for the front porch which respects the Cape Cod style, while injecting a new contemporary spirit, and providing a refreshed curb appeal to the home. The new single slope, standing seam metal roof, custom steel railings, new concrete steps, and new neutral color scheme highlight the architectural upgrades.

Construction Begins on RKA City of Columbus Project

The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department (CRPD) commissioned RKA in early 2025 to plan and design a vibrant renovation of the Beatty Community Center, located in the King-Lincoln Bronzeville neighborhood. After completing existing conditions analysis and programming for the facility, which had previously incurred significant damage in August 2024 associated with a fire in the gymnasium, RKA worked with CRPD leaders and team members to re-envision a fully restored gymnasium and an upgraded interior environment to complement new spaces for skills development and recreational activities. Construction has now begun, and RKA is excited to observe the progress being made this summer on the repair and renovation of this community asset.
